After two years in the making Toronto rapper Drake finally released his VIEWS album Thursday evening exclusively on Apple Music.
While OVO fans eagerly dissected each track on the album, trying to find Meek Mill disses, new quotes for social media and summer blockbuster hit songs.
Jamaicans and Dancehall fans however were furious just minutes after VIEWS’ release after finding out that recording artiste Popcaan’s “Controlla” verse, which was leaked last month didn’t make the cut of the 20-track album.
Though Popcaan’s “Love Yuh Bad” was sampled on Drake and Rihanna’s single “Too Good,” Unruly fans took to Drake’s Instagram account to post ‘popcorn’ emojis in protest for what they called a ‘disrespect.’
Popcaan however seemed unbothered and also released a new track of his own titled ‘Ova Dweet.’ on his Vevo account, a single produced by Notnice Records.
Industry sources however told Dre1alliance that Popcaan was already aware that his verse wouldn’t have been featured on the album.
According to sources Popcaan was included on the remix of “Controlla” and will officially be release this summer. Sources also added that Jay Z and Kanye West were also excluded from “Popstyle.”
Meanwhile sources inside the Unruly camp says Popcaan and Drake are still great friends and it was just business. Sources say Popcaan is also happy for the additional exposure he’s been getting since the incident.
