A Muschett High School student was shot dead by an enraged motorist who had an altercation with a minibus driver over the bright light from the headlamps of the bus on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Shaneek Rose of Lamey district, St James.

Reports are that about 11:45pm, Rose, who was returning from a birthday party, was among passengers who disembarked from the minibus for a rest stop.

During this time a heated argument developed between the minibus driver and an oncoming motorists who stopped his car to complain about the blinding headlight from the bus.

The driver of the car reportedly pulled a gun from his waistband and fired a shot in the direction of the bus which caught the female student in the back of her head just as she entered the bus.

She was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.

The gunman drove away from the scene and escaped.

The Adelphi police are investigating.
